Arachna – The Adventure Begins
From the secret underground lairs in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey to the penthouse suites of the Ritz Hotel in New York, dark and disturbed minds are planning a wave of terror and destruction. People are vanishing, dying.
The citizens have a new protector, however. A masked avenger. She uses the concrete jungle of New York City as her playground, swinging from organic webs she shoots from her fingertips. Her name is Arachna.
Arachna doesn’t know how she got her superpowers, but the fledgling heroine is compelled to use them to fight crime and protect the innocent. Not only because of her conscience but because of the voice in her head – her split-personality!
By day, Jennie Janus is your average everyday college student who wants her haute couture fashion designs to grace the runways one day. The meek girl next door has a secret locked beneath her red head of hair. Unbeknownst to Jennie’s fellow students, she suffers from a mental condition called Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Ever since Jennie was a child, she’s had a mischievous split-personality. This bottled persona has abided her time, waiting patiently for the faithful day she is set free.
One day Jennie woke up to discover she had super-powers like enhanced strength, agility, and durability, not to mention being able to spin a web. The timid Jennie knew she wasn’t cut out to be a heroine worthy of her powers but she couldn’t let them go to waste, she couldn’t hide her light under a bushel.
Arachna’s time had come.
In her adventures, Arachna goes up against a mutated and mutilated serial killer. A warped mind preying on people who are only looking for warmth and comfort. The killer is just part of a larger, all-consuming web to ensnare the whole city. That’s just the appetizer.
The spider-powered superheroine soon finds herself tangled in that same web. She’s up against another spider and this one isn’t aversed to eating its kin. This proverbial spider’s strands of webbing are being pulled by a puppet master. A criminal mastermind and a mad scientist bent on dominating every man, woman, and child on the planet through the manipulation of genes.
This is the closest to death the start-up heroine has ever come. Even if Arachna survives the experience, will she and her other half have the courage and mental fortitude to ever put the superhero costume back on?
